During his studies, Ke-Qing researched the methane production and oxidation in marine surface sediment of Aarhus Bay. The magnitude and mechanism of methane production and oxidation has been poorly constrained for many years. Ke-Qing studied how much the turnover rates of methane and the methanogenic pathways is involved.

The new research findings contribute to the understanding of methane cycling in marine surface sediment.

The PhD degree was completed at the Center for Geomicrobiology, Department of Bioscience, Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
