The 3rd International Workshop on Microbial Life under Extreme Energy Limitation organized By Jan P. Amend from NSF STC for Dark Energy Biosphere Investigations (C-DEBI), University of Southern California, Tori M. Hoehler from NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA, USA and the Center for Geomicrobiology will take place at the beautiful Sandbjerg Manor in Denmark during September 21-25, 2015.

The limits of microbial life and the exploration of the biological demand for energy is the focus of the 3rd International Workshop on Microbial Life under Extreme Energy Limitation

We invite researchers and students from different relevant disciplines to participate in the workshop in order to discuss microbial energy requirements and stimulate new thinking and new approaches.

Internationally leading scientists in these disciplines will give invited lectures that will set the stage for following discussions. The workshop format will furthermore allow for presentation of an unlimited number of posters and a smaller number of contributed talks. On the third and the fourth afternoon of the workshop participants will discuss the most interesting and important themes in groups. The groups will be asked to summarize the current understanding of the chosen themes and consider future research needed.

This workshop follows up on the outcome of an earlier 2nd International Workshop on the same theme which was organized 2012 in Aarhus, Denmark, by Tori Hoehler and Bo Barker Jørgensen.

We invite you to apply for participation in the workshop by submitting an abstract no later than April 30, 2015. The workshop is limited to 70 participants.

Full information on the workshop is available on the following website: www.microenergy2015.org
